The Pre-Filter
As a Pre-Filter in the Biological bottle, the "Level 2" carbon composite filter removes 95% of the Chlorine Lead, Mercury, Copper, VOCs, and PCBs at a flow rate of 10ml/sec. This carbon composite filter functions as a pre-filter reducing small particulate matter extending the life of the Sub-Micron Biological Filter. The carbon composite filter also removes the taste of a disinfectant that may be added, like chlorine, if viral contamination is suspected.
The Biological Filter
The Sub-Micron Biological Filter provides for the removal of bacteria, cysts, cryptosporidium, and protozoa from contaminated water. In independent testing conducted in accordance with EPA protocol, the Sub-Micron Biological Filter removed over 99.99% of cysts and 99.9999% bacteria at EPA protocol concentrations. This bottle has even been certified to remove anthrax spores!
